Full size view highly recommended. This was taken on our recent vacation. Specifically, this is at the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, FL. As I was about to post it to DA, my 8 year old son came over to my desk and we got to talking about Michelangelo. I did a search on Michelangelo on the web to pull up some additional info to read with my son, and we came across the following statement. I thought it was very fitting to share it with you all here...as after all, my son did take this photo This is his 4th photo that I've felt warranted inclusion in my gallery here, and don't think I'm not proud of him. I'm really trying to encourage his photography so that maybe he'll stop beating me at golf..but that's unlikely, ha! Anyway, here's the quotation I thought so appropriate:
"Just as Michelangelo saw the 'David' in the raw, unformed block of marble before he struck it with his chisel, we as parents can imagine the fine adult human beings who will emerge from our children’s growing, evolving selves. By holding this image in our minds, we can, through our encouragement, nurture our children to blossom into their fullest potential.
Each child has his own individual expressions to offer to the world. That expression can take many forms, from artistic interests, a way of thinking, athletic activities, a particular style of dressing, musical talents, different hobbies, etc. Our job is to join our children in discovering who they are."

Excellent shot. I'm originally from Sarasota (I live in Colorado now) and my fiance and I are planning on getting married at the Ringling Museum. That's an impressive picture of the statue of David.
Your son has got talent!
I thought I've gone mad when I saw this at first because the scenery looks different in Florence.
But thanks to Lorri now I know that there are many Davids around (isn't that kind: not everybody can go to Florence )
Brilliant composition and the dark shapes against the light background, fab.

Whoa....great capture!!!! Love the silouhetted statue and palms...this feels very strong to me...it's a strong image...I'm not quite sure how to say what I am thinking...but I really love it...really, really, REALLY love it...fave for you!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Featuring `ATrue's Literary Fundraiser, works from many Literature Groups on Deviantart aswell as Personal Choices and #Xpose-it's quiz night on the 26th March!
